IIM Shillong holds plantation drive

Shillong, Mar 22: IIM Shillong in collaboration with state Forest and Environment department conducted a plantation drive as part of International Forest Day on Friday.

Addressing the event on the theme of “Forest and Food”, principal chief conservator of forests & head of forest force (PCCF & HoFF) RS Gill highlighted the pivotal role of forests in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring food security.

He emphasised the importance of preserving traditional knowledge, promoting extensive tree plantation drives, and adopting eco-friendly practices as essential steps towards building a greener and more sustainable future.

IIM Shillong director Prof DP Goyal pledged the institute’s commitment to strengthening future’s collaborative endeavours.

It was also attended by additional PCCF D Sathiyan, divisional forest officer (social forestry) Heisa Lato.
