USTM honours ex-NEHU VC with lifetime achievement award

Shillong, Nov 4: Padma Shri Prof Pramod Tandon, a renowned scientist and former Vice Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering work in biodiversity conservation and promotion of bioeconomy in North East India.

The award was presented to Tandon by the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) during the National Conference on Botany held on Tuesday in the presence of eminent dignitaries.

The conference focused on promoting research and innovation in biodiversity and climate resilience.

Prof GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM, received the Birbal Sahni Foundation Award for his contributions to research and academic institution-building.

The conference featured addresses by Dr. Kanad Das, Director of the Botanical Survey of India, Prof BS Kholia, President of the Indian Fern Society, and Prof SP Khullar, Secretary of the Indian Fern Society, emphasizing collaborative research in biodiversity conservation and seedless plant research.
