GHADC goes to polls on April 10

Shillong, Feb 16: Ending speculations, the state government has announced that the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be held on April 10.

Informing that after a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday, cabinet minister Wailadmiki Shylla said, “The date of polling has been fixed on April 10 while the date of counting is on April 14.”

The gazette notification for the GHADC elections will be issued on March 9 with the last date for nominations on March 16, he said.  

Scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 16 after 3 pm and the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be on March 17.

The finalization and publication of valid nominations, allotment of symbols will be on March 18.
