Shillong, Feb 18: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Wednesday tabled an interim budget of Rs 36.99 crore.
However, the budget was allocated only for three months (vote on account) due to the reason that the full budget allocation for 2026-2027 cannot be calculated until the financial year ends.
“The vote on account amounting to Rs 36,99,83,830 will be with effect from April 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026,” KHADC executive member in-charge finance Seiborlang Warbah said while tabling the budget during the first day of the budget session.
The full budget will be tabled in the next session of the Council.
He said the budget will allow respective members in-charge to defray several charges which will come in the course of payment during the period ending June 30.
Warbah also informed that the vote on account budget aimed at disbursing the salaries of members of the council, officers and staff of the different departments (executive, legislative and judicial) including pensioners.
Of the total Rs 36.99 crore budget allocation, Rs 9,14,51,600 was allocated for General Administration Department, Rs 18,53,920 – Law Department, Rs 2,76,64,360 – Revenue Budget & Finance Department, Rs 2,84,41,860 – Forest Department, Rs 1,80,43,850 – Administration of Justice & Judicial Department, Rs 2,36,39,150 – Legislative Department, Rs 4,11,520 – Education Department, Rs 16,24,94,700 – Civil Works & Development Department and Rs 1,59,82,870 – Enforcement Scheme for protection of Tribal Land & Interest.
