Curfew relaxation upto 8 PM in West Garo Hills; Night restrictions remain

Tura, March 25: The district administration of West Garo Hills in Meghalaya has relaxed curfew hours until 8 PM across the entire district in response to vast improvement in the law and order scenario. The order was issued by District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

According to the official directive, the curfew will now be enforced daily from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM until further notice, effectively allowing residents to move freely during the day and early evening hours.

The administration emphasized that the continuation of preventive measures is necessary to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation of unrest. During curfew hours, residents are prohibited from stepping outside their homes within district limits.

Law enforcement agencies, along with executive magistrates and police officials, have been directed to strictly enforce the order. Any violation will attract legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other applicable provisions.

Residents have been urged to cooperate with authorities and adhere to the restrictions to maintain peace and public order.
