Govt recognises promotion of regularised ad-hoc staff

Shillong, Apr 2: The state government has decided to recognise promotions given to employees, who were first appointed as ad-hoc staff and regularised later, making them eligible for salary/pension benefits based on their promotions.

The state cabinet on Wednesday approved a one-time condonation to recognise the promotions of these regularised ad-hoc employees.

The government had earlier regularised around 3,000 ad-hoc employees, who were appointed before 2007.

Recalling the government move to regularise ad-hoc employees, who got promotion as well, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said there was a confusion over their service records, leading to delay in pension for some retirees.

“The Accountant General needed clarity on whether benefits should be calculated from the original regularised post or the promoted one,” he said.

“We will recognise them and give a one-time condonation and accordingly the concerned employees will get their salaries as per the promotion,” he added.

He clarified that only those promotions, where all rules and procedures were followed, will be eligible for condonation.

“We will allow those promotions to be recognised so that necessary pension can be given on the basis of the promoted post,” Sangma added.
