Shillong, April 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has assured that the long-pending LPG bottling plant near ICAR complex in Ri-Bhoi district will be ready soon as the construction work is in full swing.
Replying to a media query, the Chief Minister said, “It is something that was hanging for a very long time and it is this government that took the decision, provided the land and the construction has started.”
Stating that the construction work is “going very fast”, he said, “We expect it (to be completed) very soon.”
On the situation related to LPG supply, he said supply of commercial LPG is under strain nationwide, but domestic LPG supply in Meghalaya is being managed with “minor shortages”.
Pointing out that the Central government has increased the commercial LPG allotment to states 70%, he said, “It has been increased from 20% to 70% but the actual impact of that is yet to be felt. We do expect that in the coming days that the actual supply will go up and we do expect some relief.”
Sangma referred to the LPG crisis arising out of the Strait of Hormuz situation, and said, “But at the same, the government of India is making arrangements at different levels to minimise the inconvenience that the people are facing.”
