Balrampur (UP), Jun 8: Suspended Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri on Monday claimed that the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has links with the BJP, raising suspicions over the new outfit’s origins.
“Cockroach Janata Party is the C team of the BJP. In fact, the CJP is the BJP,” Agnihotri, who also heads the Rashtriya Adhikar Morcha, said while speaking at a programme held here.
On one hand, the ruling party termed the CJP a traitor, and on the other hand, hundreds of vehicles lined up outside the airport to welcome CJP leader Abhijit Dipke on June 6, he alleged.
“They also got the permission to stage a protest at the Jantar Mantar,” he said.
The CJP emerged in May amid a controversy surrounding remarks attributed to the Chief Justice of India during a court hearing and rapidly gained traction online through memes and political commentary around issues such as unemployment, examination paper leaks and education.
Agnihotri at the programme also raised the issue of alleged missing donations worth crores of rupees offered at the Ram Temple.
He said that the ruling party and certain individuals are plundering the funds of the country’s temples, ‘muths’ (monasteries), and devotees in the name of the ‘Sanatani’ tradition, showing a lack of genuine concern for the nation’s pilgrimage sites.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said that reports have emerged claiming that crores of rupees from donations offered at the Ram Temple were missing and urged the court to take cognisance of the matter.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai, however, said internal audits are underway, and nothing that substantiates the allegation has emerged so far.
Agnihotri also said the Rashtriya Adhikar Morcha in coordination with like-minded parties can contest 270 seats in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections due in 2027.
Agnihotri was suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government on charges of indiscipline on January 26, the day he tendered his resignation. He was subsequently attached to the office of the Shamli district magistrate.
Agnihotri had resigned from the Provincial Civil Service (PCS) on Republic Day over the new UGC rules and the reported insult of Swami Avimukteshwaranand, alleging that the government was “anti-Brahmin”. (PTI)
