PWD seeks public feedback on key safeguard documents

Meghalaya Logistics and Connectivity Improvement Project

Shillong, July 4: The Public Works Department (PWD) has called for feedback from all stakeholders on key environmental and social safeguard documents drafted for the proposed Meghalaya Logistics and Connectivity Improvement Project (MLCIP).

The consultation covers four documents – Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), Indigenous Peoples Planning Framework (IPPF), Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF), and Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP).

The PWD has urged government departments, community leaders, civil society groups, road users, and the general public to provide their feedback on the key documents.

The drafts are currently accessible on the Meghalaya PWD’s official website while hard copies are also available at PWD offices and at the office of the Project Director, Meghalaya Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (MIDFC).

The stakeholders have until July 23, 2026 to send comments, suggestions, and observations.

Feedback can be submitted via email to megapwd2024@gmail.com, megamidfc2024@gmail.com, or esmlcip@gmail.com, especially for those unable to join the consultation meetings.

The department said inputs gathered during this process will be used to refine the project’s environmental and social safeguards.

“The feedback received during the consultation process will help strengthen the project’s environmental and social safeguard frameworks and contribute to the effective and inclusive implementation of the Meghalaya Logistics and Connectivity Improvement Project,” the notice stated.
