Shillong, July 26: The BSF Meghalaya Frontier has announced the launch of Spandan League 2026, a grassroots sports tournament aimed at engaging youth and building stronger community ties.
Organised by BSF battalions in West Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills, the league will be held across multiple venues in the state under the Khelo India initiative.
The tournament will feature three disciplines — Football, Volleyball and Basketball.
Teams and players from different parts of Meghalaya and local communities are expected to take part, giving young athletes a platform to display talent, discipline and teamwork in a competitive setting.
Ahead of the event, BSF Meghalaya Frontier will roll out an awareness campaign on social media.
It will include the official announcement, logo and theme launch, venue details, and match promotions to build excitement among sports lovers and encourage local participation.
“The league is our effort to use sports as a tool to promote confidence, discipline, excellence and national integration while connecting with communities at the grassroots,” a BSF spokesperson said.
The initiative aims to identify budding talent from the region and provide them with professional exposure through structured competition.
