Rajya Sabha adjourned till noon as Kharge seeks to raise Ram Mandir issue in Zero Hour

New Delhi, Aug 11: Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon on Tuesday after Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge sought to raise a fresh issue relating to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, that led to an uproar in the House.

Soon after papers were laid on the table, Chairman C P Radhakrishnan took up the Zero Hour and called BJD leader Santrupt Misra to raise a matter of public importance.

Misra raised the issue of fertiliser availability in Odisha. However, as he was about to conclude his remarks, Kharge rose to seek permission to raise a new issue concerning the Ram Mandir.

“Sir, I am raising a new point… here, the Ram Mandir issue…” Kharge said, prompting protests from the treasury benches.

Amid the commotion, the Chairman adjourned the proceedings till noon. (PTI)
