Shillong, Aug 25: The TMC has decided not to contest the Shillong parliamentary byelection as it does not have a proper face, party state president Charles Pyngrope said on Tuesday.
“We don’t have a proper face (to contest),” Pyngrope said.
The Nongthymmai MLA, however, said other political parties, including the Congress, have reached out to the TMC for support.
Asked if the TMC has decided to officially support any party, Pyngrope said, “As of now, no.”
“Whether we will remain neutral. We will have to take a call on that,” he added.
The TMC chief also said the party could still project itself if people want a viable alternative.
“Suppose people want a viable alternative, we can always project ourselves and when you test the waters you will know which way it is going,” he stated.
