Shillong, August 25: The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills has directed all individual and institutional arms licence holders whose licences have expired and remain unrenewed to regularise them immediately.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, concerned licence holders must submit their renewal applications in prescribed Form A-3, along with the required documents, at Room 319, Arms Branch, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, on or before September 20, 2026.
The notice states that continued possession of firearms after the expiry of a licence is unlawful and may invite legal action under the Arms Act, 1959 and Arms Rules, 2016. Failure to comply may also result in action, including cancellation of the licence.
