Shillong, Nov 5: Meghalaya BJP has ‘accepted’ Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s decision on the cabinet reshuffle, but is yet to deliberate on seeking additional representation.
BJP State president Rikman G Momin told reporters on Wednesday that the party would meet with its MLAs to decide on the matter.
The reshuffle was triggered by the resignation of UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh from the cabinet and the induction of Paul Lyngdoh, the West Shillong legislator, who returned to the cabinet after merging with the NPP along with two other former UDP MLAs.
Asked if the party is disappointed over not getting an additional berth, he said, “That process will go on. We will ask the Chief Minister. We will be in touch with him.”
He said the question of demanding more berths will be discussed internally. “That we will discuss with him (CM),” he said.
He also denied reports that the newly joined MLAs were unhappy and had sought his intervention with the central leadership.
