Shillong, Nov 5: Newly inducted NPP legislator Paul Lyngdoh had his original portfolio intact as he returned to the Conrad Sangma cabinet over a year after he had faced the axe.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Affairs department on November 3, 2026,
Lyngdoh has been re-allocated Social Welfare, Tourism and Arts & Culture — the same three departments he held before he was dropped as minister last year.
According to an official notification, the reallocation comes in partial modification of the September 16, 2025 notification effect.
The West Shillong legislator, who along with three UDP MLAs joined the ruling NPP recently, was re-inducted into the cabinet on Monday.
The notification also lists the portfolios of two other ministers.
NPP’s Timothy D. Shira, while retaining Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, has been given additional charge of Power and Water Resources — portfolios earlier held by UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh, who resigned as cabinet minister recently after 11 MLAs of his party defected within a couple of months.
BJP’s Sanbor Shullai has lost Arts & Culture but retains Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Taxation, Legal Metrology and Printing & Stationery.
