Assembly Budget session to commence on February 16

Shillong, Jan 27: The budget session of 11th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held from February 16 to 27.

The session will comprise 10 working days with seven days allotted for government business and three days for private members’ business.

Informing this on Tuesday, Speaker Thomas A Sangma said the calendar for the Assembly session has been approved by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).

He further informed that the State Budget will be presented on February 20.

The Speaker added that sitting hours may be extended, if required, to enable members to effectively participate in the proceedings of the House.

He also informed that on the day the Supplementary Demand for Grants is taken up, the sitting of the House will be extended till 3:00 PM.

The BAC meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Parliamentary Affairs Prestone Tynsong.

Leader of the Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma and Member Paul Lyngdoh also participated in the meeting through online mode.
