
Sector-level meet highlights need to enhance bilateral cooperation
Shillong, Apr 18: The Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have resolved to strengthen cooperation in enhancing India-Bangladesh border security on the Meghalaya sector.
Several areas of priority to strengthen border security on Meghalaya sector were highlighted during a sector commander level coordination meeting at BJP outpost at Bijoypur, Bangladesh on Thursday.

DIG Tura Sector Lalit Mohan Sharma and DIG Shillong Sector Manoj Kumar Barnwal represented the Indian side while Sector Commander Mymensingh Col Sarker Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman represented the Bangladesh side in the meeting.
Battalion commanders and staff officers from both forces also participated in the meeting.
The meeting was conducted in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the mutual commitment of both border guarding forces to ensuring peace and stability along the international border, the BSF said.
BSF and BGB officials addressed key issues including trans-border crimes, illegal infiltration, the importance of sharing real-time information, and other matters related to effective border management during the meeting.

The meeting also laid emphasis on on enhancing bilateral cooperation, jointly combating illegal cross-border activities, and preventing unauthorized movement along the border areas, the BSF said.
Both the BSF and BGB commanders acknowledged the necessity of addressing border-related concerns through regular dialogue and cooperation.
The commanders also reaffirmed the commitment of both forces to work closely in fostering mutual trust, improving operational coordination, and maintaining peace and security along the border.
