CM to push plea for rail link to Baghmara

Shillong, Mar 6: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has assured to take up with the Centre for extension of the railway line from Mendipathar to Baghmara in South Garo Hills.

“Of course I will forward this particular concern and request the ministry…,” Sangma told reporters while referring to a memorandum submitted by three legislators from the district.

Sangma, however, said the government will first talk to the people before taking a decision on the matter.

“We have been very clear that we will talk to the people… if we are able to carry people along then I am very keen to see that we will be able to develop this infrastructure… it will be a great economic boost for the region,” he stated.
