Tura, July 29: From Garo Hills to Khasi and Jaintia Hills, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today assured that no corner of Meghalaya would be left behind, as he led a distribution programme for schemes under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMDSF) at the Chief Minister’s Residence here.
Addressing the gathering, Sangma explained that the CMDSF, financed through the Chief Minister’s Secretariat budget, was created to support small but high-impact schemes benefiting people across the state.
The Chief Minister noted that the state government is rolling out development schemes in every constituency of Meghalaya. “While expectations may not always match the allocations, efforts are being made to reach every region — not only in Garo Hills, but also in Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills,” he said.
He added that in addition to the CMDSF, regular departmental schemes continue to be implemented, but the government has made the CMDSF a priority to ensure benefits reach people directly.
Responding to queries from the public over delays in the release of CMDSF funds, Sangma said that owing to high demand, the government was working to ensure equitable distribution across all regions within the available budget. He also clarified that fund disbursement follows due process through the Office of the Deputy Commissioner concerned.
The programme was aimed at informing the public about the areas and regions where CMDSF schemes have been sanctioned.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister thanked officials of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for their efforts in organising the event and expressed appreciation to the public for their continued support.
