Conclave of traditional chiefs on Jan 7

Shillong, Jan 4: The Dorbar ki Rangbah Kur, an assembly of clan elders convened by Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur: Ka Bri u Hynñiewtrep to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the apex body, will be held on January 7 at Mission Compound here.

Over 5,000 individual clans from across the state will participate in the congregation and the Kur has requested at least three leaders from every clan to attend the assembly.

The assembly will focus on addressing several significant and often contentious issues concerning traditional customs, rights and privileges, and the overall welfare of the community, stated a press release.

Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur president RL Kharpran and Prof Streamlet Dkhar will be among notable speakers, it said.

A symposium on ‘Tehsong ia ki Kur Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep’ (The Communal Bond of All the Clans in Hynñiewtrep Land), to be moderated by Erwin K Syiem Sutnga, will also be held.
