Criminal gang busted in Garo Hills

Tura, Sept 26: Police in West Garo Hills have busted a criminal gang involved in robbery and assault of the whop owners during the early part of this month.

Eight men hailing from different parts of Garo Hills have been arrested in a string of raids conducted over the past several days following investigation.

The gang was involved in the looting of two shops on September 11th at Adingre and Sadolpara villages in Dadenggre region, in which they snatched several items from the shop along with cash amounting to Rs. 6,000/- and Rs. 68,000/- respectively.
During the incident, two senior citizens, who were the owners of the shops, were also assaulted causing injuries and their mobile phones were forcibly taken away.

Following investigation, police arrested

Paul B. Marak (27 yrs), from Damal Asim Market.

Rajiv B. Marak @ Lakingsbirth (30 yrs), belonging to Bollongre, PO: Rari, Bajengdoba, who was arrested from Jengjal.

Silwen Ch. Sangma (31 yrs) of Dilsigre, PO/PS: Dadenggre – was arrested from Okkapara, Damalgre.

Rebellious A. Sangma @ Klen (37 yrs), hailing from Rengsangre, PO: Asanang, PS: Tura – arrested from Rongram.

Jakbrash Jakson R Marak – (25 yrs), belonging to Balsatgre, PO & PS – Tikrikilla – arrested from Tikrikilla.

One motorcycle used in the commission of the crime was also seized, and mobile phones taken away from the shopkeepers were also recovered from the possession of the arrested accused persons.
