Drugs, cattle seized on border

Shillong, Mar 29: A packet containing 285 Yaba tablets, a highly addictive narcotic, was seized by BSF troops near Indo-Bangla border in South Garo Hills district on Friday.

The packet of banned drugs, intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh, was subsequently handed over to Gasuapara police station for further legal proceedings.

In another operation, BSF Meghalaya rescued 19 cattle near the international border of West Jaintia Hills district in the wee hours of Friday.

The cattle, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh, were handed over to local police authorities.
