Ampati, May 6: The District Administration of South West Garo Hills has announced that the ongoing Tuberculosis (TB) and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening drive will continue across government offices and departments until June 2026.
The initiative, conducted under the 100 Days TB Campaign and NCD Screening Programme, is being implemented by the District Health Department in coordination with various departments. It includes screening for tuberculosis, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer to ensure early detection and timely treatment.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the drive aims to promote preventive healthcare and reduce the overall disease burden in the district. Early diagnosis of TB and NCDs is expected to significantly improve treatment outcomes and help prevent complications.
Officials stated that departments yet to be covered will be included in a phased manner in the coming weeks. Heads of Departments have been directed to ensure full participation of officers and staff and to extend necessary support to the health teams.
The administration has urged all employees to actively take part in the screening process and utilise the opportunity to monitor their health. It also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public health services and called for collective efforts to achieve better health outcomes and work towards a TB-free district.
