MoU signed with Mothers’ Union Tura for management of 20 Govt LP schools

Shillong, June 19: Chief minister Conrad K Sangma has called for harnessing the demographic dividend of Meghalaya by providing quality education and skills to the youth.
Addressing an Education Conclave at Tura on Thursday, the chief minister said by providing education and skills, the state can convert a potential challenge – emerging young population – into an opportunity.

Sangma engaged with stakeholders and government officials on interventions to upscale the standard of education in the state.
Education minister Rakkam A Sangma and Captain Williamson Sangma State University vice chancellor Dr Vasanthi Vijaykumar also attended the occasion.

Meanwhile, during the conclave, an MoU was signed with Mothers’ Union Tura for management of 20 government LP schools.
On the occasion, several key initiatives, including Meghalaya School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (MSQAAF) and CM IMPACT Meghalaya Learning Enhancement Programme (M-LEP) were also launched.

Educational tablets also distributed among students with special educational needs at the conclave.
Earlier, in his address, the chief minister highlighted the government’s initiatives to transform the education sector, including renovating government schools and colleges, establishing the Captain Williamson Sangma State University, and investing in sports and music infrastructure.
“Our interventions aims to channelise the positive energy of our youth”, he added.

On the importance of collaboration and partnership with organisations like the Mothers’ Union to improve learning outcomes, he said, “Government is keen to work in collaboration with the community. A collaboration would mean to work in partnership with the government to improve learning outcomes.”
The chief minister also urged all stakeholders to work together to find solutions to the challenges facing the education sector and to focus on positively contributing to the state’s development.

Stating that education is a critical pillar of the government’s development agenda and that the state is committed to investing in its youth.
The conclave provided a platform for brainstorming and discussion on how to improve the education sector, with a focus on finding solutions and working together to achieve common goals.
