
Tura, May 29: Police vigilance on entry points to Garo Hills have led to interception of narcotic substances and arrest of five peddlers from two different places.

Teams from the Anti Narcotic Task Force of West Garo Hills police on Wednesday intercepted three men travelling in an Autorickshaw (ML08J-0131). The men were proceeding towards Tura Bazar when a police team stopped them at Bapupara, near the Maternity Hospital.
The men were found to be carrying serveral vials containing orange coloured powder suspected to be heroin, weighting 1.09 gms and 9 (nine) nos of syringes.
All three men, identified as Abhinash Lohar, Sonjoy Chandra Roy and Brian K Sangma, were arrested for illegal possession and sale of psychotropic substances (Heroin).
Today’s arrest comes close on the heels of another seizure that took place in Tura on the 19th of this month.

Police ANTF team intercepted two men in a Hyundai i10 car (AS16A-3375) at Balalgre, under Garobadha outpost, that was heading towards Tura. The men, Elizer G. Momin (25 years) of Proper Araimile, Tura, and Toseng R Marak (26 years) of Alokpang Bulawe in South Garo Hills, were found to have in their possession around 1.42 gms of suspected heroin. Both the suspects have been taken into custody and cases registered under the NDPS Act.
