Fresh arrests into Rajabala killing

Tura, Feb 19: More arrests have taken place on Wednesday night in connection with January’s incident at Goalgaon village in Rajabala where a member of the ACHIK organization was killed by a mob.

Police arrested two more suspects bringing the total number of accused persons in custody to 15.

The arrests took place in far away Mawsynram village of East Khasi Hills District after a special team from West Garo Hills police conducted a raid last night and nabbed two of the accused who had been in hiding since the Rajabala incident.

Police took into custody Aminul Islam (aged 43) of New Bhaitbari and Gazi Rahman (aged 45) of Bowabari village, who were holed up in Mawsynram trying to evade arrest since the time they fled the Garo Hills.
