Govt effects major bureaucratic reshuffle

Shillong, May 6: Abhilash Baranwal has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district following a major bureaucratic reshuffle carried out by the Meghalaya government on Tuesday.

Baranwal, who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi, replaces R.M. Kurbah. Kurbah has been transferred and posted as Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya in the Home (Police) and Tourism Departments.

In another key transfer, Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills, Dr. Abhishek Saini, has been posted as the new Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi district.

The government also transferred Barnari Mawlong from the post of Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills and posted her as Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Department. Aitinolin L. Mawlong has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills.

Meanwhile, Richa Kulkarni, SDO (Civil) of Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, has been posted as Deputy Secretary in the Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department.

The reshuffle also included changes at the senior administrative level. Additional Chief Secretary Sampath Kumar has been given additional charge as Principal Resident Commissioner at Meghalaya House, New Delhi.

M.R. Synrem has been assigned additional charge as Principal Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department and Additional Development Commissioner, New Delhi.

Dr. Pooja Pandey has been entrusted with the Cooperation Department and appointed Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation, while Cyril V.D. Diengdoh has been given charge of the Commerce and Industries Department.

Dr. Vijay Kumar D, Commissioner &Secretary to the Govt, of Meghalaya, Finance and Cooperation etc., Departments and Chairperson, Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation is relieved of his functions as Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Cooperation Department and Chairperson, Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation with effect from the date of handing over charge.

Meanwhile, Tennystar .R Marak, Additional Deputy Commisioner, in- charge North Garo Hils District, Resubelpara shall look after the office of the Deputy Commisioner, North Garo Hils District, Resubelpara in addition ot his own duties with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders.
