Shillong, June 11: Sonam Raghuvanshi and four other accused involved in the recent murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a tourist from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Shillong. The court remanded them to 8 days of police custody.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said, “All five accused have been remanded to 8 days of police custody. Interrogation will start very soon.”

When asked about the confession, Syiem urged media to refrain from speculation, saying, “There are many things that need to be confirmed and corroborated with evidence.”

The SP informed that only five people have been arrested so far, and further investigation will reveal if others were involved. Regarding the reconstruction of the crime scene, Syiem said, “Not tomorrow yet. We have to examine them first. Once the examination has been finalized, statements are recorded, and we get to the facts of the matter, the SIT will decide the date when they will go for reconstruction of the crime scene.”

When asked about Sonam’s alleged pregnancy, Syiem said, “Yesterday, a thorough check-up was done on Sonam at Ganesh Das hospital, and it appears negative. Again, they will recheck her after 24 hours.”

The other four accused were examined by a registered doctor at the Sadar police station.
