JNC asks petrol pump to provide jobs to locals

Shillong, June 11: Members of Jaintia National Council (JNC) have persuaded the management of a petrol pump at Mookhep in East Jaiñtia Hills district to employ two local youths in the pump from next month, according to a press release.

Following a meeting with JNC members led by its vice-president Nangjan Dkhar and village leader V Siangshai on Wednesday, the petrol pump manager V Rathore committed to hiring two workers from the region, the JNC said.

Keeping in view of the current scenario of unemployment, the JNC urged all business establishments operating from Jaintia Hills to give preference to local youth in terms of employment.

It also warned of monitoring the situation regularly to ensure that businesses keep their promise to offer job opportunities to local youth.
