James to raise anwanwadi cooks’ demand with Centre

Shillong, Oct 9: Rajya Sabha MP James PK Sangma has assured anganwadi cooks and helpers of taking up their demand for raising wages with the Central government.

Representatives of the union of cooks and helpers called on the MP in Shillong on Friday.

Sangma said they lamented about being paid insufficient wages and that there should be a revision.

He said he had assured them of taking up the issues at the highest level.

“As MP from Meghalaya, I will take their concerns up to the Government of India so that their concerns are addressed and the government is made aware of the difficulties and challenges they are facing,” he said.

“I will impress upon and request the Government of India to heed their demands so that there can be some kind of resolution,” he added.
