Juvenile among two arrested for supplying drugs

Shillong, Dec 20: Two drug suppliers including a juvenile were arrested along with heroin from Madanrting on Thursday.

Six soap boxes containing suspected heroin weighing a total of 60.98 grams and two mobile phones were seized from their possession, East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger said.

A criminal case under relevant provisions of the law has been registered in connection with the seizure, he said while adding that the investigation is currently underway to establish the source of the narcotics and to identify and dismantle the network involved in this illegal trade.

“This successful operation is part of the intensified efforts by East Khasi Hills DEF to combat the proliferation of illegal narcotics in the district and to protect the community from the adverse impacts of drug abuse,” the SP stated.
