KSU shuts down pharmacy

Shillong, Oct 7: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle on Monday closed down the Anshu Medical Pharmacy at Polo for allegedly employing an unlicensed Ayurvedic doctor.

According to the KSU, the doctor in question is a student of the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) who has not obtained the necessary license to practice.

The union’s investigation revealed that despite lacking the required license, the doctor was allowed to work at the pharmacy for the past three months, having only completed a provisional course and half-way through her internship.

The KSU deemed this “illegal” and emphasized that the doctor’s actions could potentially endanger public health.

The KSU issued a stern warning to the doctor, directing her to cease practicing without a valid license issued by the competent authorities. The pharmacy’s owner, Anup Dey, was also held accountable for failing to verify the doctor’s credentials before hiring her.

The KSU has decided to meet with the NEIAH authorities and the state government’s health department to ensure that such incidents are thoroughly checked and prevented in the future.
