Man gets 5 year jail term for assault on woman

Tura, Nov 26: A man who assaulted and outraged the modesty of a woman has been given five years prison term by a court in North Garo Hills.

Tapon R Marak was convicted by the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Resubelpara, North Garo Hills, on November 21, and ordered to undergo five years simple imprisonment.

The conviction comes from a case in 2019, wherein he had attacked a woman and outraged her modesty.

“The immense efforts of the officers and staff during the course of investigation have made the case a success, for which the honorable court has made a favourable judgement against the accused person for his criminal acts,” stated North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Pawar Swapnil Vasantrao, IPS.
