Shillong, Sept 14: The Meghalaya State Government Employees Federation has sought a revision of pay for state government staff, saying employees are yet to get pay revisions in line with those at the national level.
The federation on Monday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who told the delegation that he would examine the matter.
Federation Secretary General Banshari Kharshandi said the memorandum sought a revised pay structure for state government employees.
“Central government has already revised pay for its employees. We want our Chief Minister to examine this and grant revised pay for state employees,” she said after meeting the chief minister.
Kharshandi said employees had missed two pay revision cycles. “Our last revision was in 2017, but we lost in 2006… and we lost again in 2016. Central government revises every 10 years regularly, but we have suffered huge losses. We are still in the 5th Pay Commission,” she said.
