Meghalaya stands for communal harmony: Marcuise N Marak

Shillong, Jan 29: Cabinet Minister Marcuise N Marak has assured that police are on the job to nab the culprits behind the so-called ‘ISIS-K’ poster warning the Garo community and strongly condemned the intimidating act.

“As representative of Meghalaya, but first, as a citizen and a member of the Garo community, I strongly condemn this act of intimidation and threat against our land, our people, and our peaceful coexistence,” Marak said on Wednesday.

The minister asserted that Meghalaya stands for harmony, mutual respect, and unity among all communities.

“Such attempts to spread fear and division have no place in our society,” Marak said adding, “Meghalaya has always stood for harmony, mutual respect, and unity among all communities, irrespective of religion or caste, and we remain firmly committed to these values.”

“The district administration has been informed and is maintaining strict vigilance to identify and take action against those responsible for this provocative and unlawful act,” he added.

He urged everyone to remain calm, united, and vigilant, and to place full faith in the Government, administration, and the law to protect the people and the land.
