Shillong, May 20: The Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, has been awarded accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), the institute said Wednesday.
The accreditation, granted for a period of four years, will remain valid up to 2030.
“This recognition reflects the NEIGRIHMS’ adherence to stringent national standards in clinical testing, accuracy, reliability, and laboratory management systems,” the institute stated.
The recognition is expected to “further enhance public confidence in the NEIGRIHMS’ diagnostic services and encourage continued advancement in healthcare delivery.”
Speaking on the occasion, NEIGRIHMS Director Prof. Nalin Mehta congratulated the Department of Biochemistry for the achievement.
“This accreditation reflects the collective efforts of faculty, residents, and administrative teams in establishing robust quality systems and ensuring safe, patient-centred care,” Prof Mehta said.
He added that “the achievement further strengthens the institute’s standing as a leading public-sector tertiary-care centre committed to excellence in healthcare delivery in North East Region.”
The institute noted that NEIGRIHMS had earlier secured NABL accreditation for the Department of Pathology.
“This achievement adds another feather in cap towards NEIGRIHMS’ status in the region,” the statement said.
