Baghmara, Sept 10: Rongara C&RD Block in South Garo Hills has a new home. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the Block Integrated Development Complex replacing the block’s old office with a modern facility built to improve services for residents.
Siju Rongara MLA Rakkam A. Sangma was present at the inauguration.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister praised the MLA for his efforts toward the constituency’s development. “This new Block Building is a direct result of the MLA’s sincere efforts and vision for the better development of the area,” he said.
The Chief Minister also urged C&RD Block officials to serve the public with sincerity and dedication. “In rural areas, people visit Block Office with hope that their grievances will be resolved. The staff should always give a patient hearing, understand their concerns, and resolve them,” he said.

He noted that over the past three years, the state government has carried out major infrastructure upgrades, with all 56 C&RD Blocks in Meghalaya now either fully renovated or housed in new buildings — a move aimed at improving service delivery and working conditions for both staff and the public.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bringing administration closer to the people and accelerating development, particularly in rural and border areas of the state.
