One held for smuggling attempt

Shillong, Jan 31: BSF troops foiled a smuggling attempt along the Dawki-Lyngkhat Road near the I B and apprehended one person on Wednesday.

Acting on inputs, BSF personnel laid an ambush in the suspected area and flagged down a Bolero pickup loaded with oranges intended for cross-border transportation.

The driver, an Indian national, failed to produce any valid documents justifying the transport.

The seized vehicle and the detained individual were handed over to the Pynursla custom office.
