Honeymoon murder: Breakthrough in Indore by Meghalaya police
Shillong, June 25: Meghalaya police achieved another major breakthrough in Raja Raghuvanshi murder case with the recovery of a pistol along with ammunition from a stream and cash in Madhya Pradesh.
Following interrogation of Indore-based property dealer Silome James, the SIT of Meghalaya Police recovered a country-made pistol with two magazines and two .32 ammunition, besides Rs 50,000 in cash.
For days, the SIT camping in Madhya Pradesh had been in search of for a bag with cash containing jewellery, mobile phone and a pistol that belonged to Raja’s wife Sonam, who is the prime accused in the case.
Sonam had left the bag at her Indore flat where she was hiding after murder of Raja in Sohra. She fled the Indore flat on June 8, after learning of the arrests of Raj Kushwaha and others involved in the crime. She surrendered in Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh on June 9, after which Meghalaya Police took her custody.

The property dealer on Wednesday afternoon led the SIT to a stream in Indore where the firearm and ammunition were located and seized.
Further investigation led to the recovery of Rs 50,000 in cash from his i10 car (MP 09/WG-2352.
James confessed that he took the cash from the laptop bag belonging to Raj Kushwaha, the alleged lover of Sonam, and a co-accused in the murder.
Confirming about the recovery by SIT at Indore, East Khasi Hills superintendent of police Vivek Syiem said laptop bag was found burnt, while the laptop remains missing.
James has claimed that the laptop was thrown by the roadside and is yet to be traced.
The SIT recently apprehended Silome James, Balbir Ahirbar alias “Ballu” (a security guard), and Lokendra Singh Tomar (the landlord of Sonam’s hideout flat), for trying to destroy evidence related to the crime.
All three are scheduled to be brought to Shillong soon. Meghalaya Police have got seven-day transit remand for Silome James and Ballu whereas three-day transit remand has been secured for Lokendra Singh Tomar.
