PM, CM announce ex-gratia for victims

Shillong, Feb 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered his condolence to the families of deceased in the coal mine blast in East Jaintia Hills on Thursday.

“Pained by the mishap in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest,” PM Modi said in a social media post.

The Prime Minister also an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on behalf of Government of Meghalaya, announced an ex gratia of Rs 3 lakh for next of kin of the deceased in the tragedy.
