Police hunt for absconding accused, seek public help

Shillong, Feb 19: The West Jaintia Hills District Police have issued a proclamation urging Elias Shylla (22) to appear before the Special Judge (POCSO), Jowai, in connection with a Special POCSO case.

Shylla, a resident of Lumlakhiat village, has been evading the authorities and failing to appear in court, prompting the court to declare him an absconder.

The court has directed publication of the proclamation under Section 82(2)(3) of the CrPC.

The District Superintendent of Police has appealed to the public to provide any information regarding Shylla’s whereabouts to the Women Police Station, West Jaintia Hills District, or the nearest police station.

“Any person having information regarding the whereabouts of the said accused is requested to immediately inform the Women Police Station, West Jaintia Hills District, or the nearest Police Station,” the proclamation states.
