Shillong Court sends three accused to police custody for evidence tampering
Shillong, June 26: Three suspects arrested for their involvement in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi have been sent to six-days police custody by a local court in Shillong on Thursday for their alleged role in destroying critical evidence in the high-profile murder case of the Indore businessman who was on his honeymoon trip to Sohra in the state.
The trio-Silome James, Balbir Ahirwar alias Ballu, and Lokendra Singh Tomar have been handed over to police for further questioning following investigation that revealed their role in the evidence destruction. Assistant Public Prosecutor Tushar Chanda announced the court’s decision after the three were presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate.

Lokendra Singh Tomar, a resident of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested on Monday. Authorities revealed that Tomar, the landlord of a flat at Dewas Naka in Indore, allegedly provided shelter to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the primary accused in the murder case of her own husband.
Silome James, a property dealer who facilitated the rental of a flat to another key suspect, Vishal Singh Chauhan, was apprehended on Saturday. Balbir Ahirwar, alias Ballu, a security guard at the same apartment complex, was arrested on Sunday. Both are implicated in aiding efforts to obscure evidence tied to the crime.
The custody order comes as Meghalaya police intensify their investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, seeking to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and ensure justice for the victim and his family.
