Shillong LS bypoll: Vocal VPP supporter backs Dr Nonglait

Shillong, May 26: In a significant boost to the National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the Shillong Lok Sabha bye-election, Snabor Laloo, a vocal supporter of opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) in Jowai, has declared support to NPP candidate Dr DRL Nonglait.

Laloo was welcomed by NPP leaders at the party’s election meeting at Chilliangraij Dorbar Hall in Jowai.

Reacting to the development, NPP’s Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla said, “We are growing from strength to strength as this campaign gains momentum.”

Terming Laloo’s decision an endorsement of Dr Nonglait’s candidature, Shylla said, “You have demonstrated your strength — we did not expect Snarbor to come and support you as the NPP candidate. This is something special.”

He also described it a “good sign” for the NPP ahead of the bye-election.
