Shillong, Dec 19: Amid the state going to autonomous district council (ADC) elections on February 21 next year, the government on Thursday effected a major reshuffle in the state police along with transfer and promotion of several top level officers in the department.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Vivek Syiem has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Khasi Hills district, according to an official release.
Dr Raghvendra Kumar MG, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (WR), Tura has been posted as the DIG, CID, Shillong.
IPS officers – Jerry FK Marak, Commandant, 2nd MLP Bn, Tura and Jubi G Momin, SP, Anti-Infiltration Directorate (AID), Shillong – have been promoted to DIG rank and posted as DIG-WR, Tura and DIG (Administration), Shillong respectively.
Four IPS officers – Vivekananda Singh, Sylvester Nongtnger, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, and Shailendra Bamaniya – have also been promoted to “officiate in selection grade of senior scale”.
Singh will continue to head Ri Bhoi police, but re-designated as Senior SP; Nongtnger, SP, East Khasi Hills has been transferred as Senior SP, TAP, Shillong; Dhanoa will continue as SP, ANTF; and Bamaniya will also continue as SP, South Garo Hills.
Six IPS officers – Naman Kumar, Dewansh Pandey, Ishan Gupta, Ashish, Dheeraj Yadav, and Hari Prasanth MR – have been promoted to officiate in “senior time scale of senior scale”.
Naman Kumar, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Amlarem has been posted as ASP, West Khasi Hills; Ishan Gupta, SDPO, Dadenggre as ASP, West Jaintia Hillls; Ashish, SDPO, Sadar, Shillong as ASP, East Khasi Hills; Dheeraj Yadav, Assistant Commandant (AC), 6th MLP Bn, Umran as ASP, SF-10, Shillong; and Hari Prasanth MR, AC, 2nd MLP Bn, Tura, as Additional SP, CBPS (Eastern Range), Shillong.
Meanwhile, Maxwell B Syiem, SP, Eastern West Khasi Hills has been posted as SP, Anti-Infiltration Directorate, Shillong; Goldenbert D Kharwanlang, SP, South West Khasi Hills as SP, Anti-Terror Squad; Billy Graham Marak, SP, AID, Tura as Commandant, 2nd MLP Bn, Tura; Rupam R Marak, Commandant, 4th MLP Bn, Sohpian as SP, AID, Tura; Banraplang Jyrwa, ASP, Ri-Bhoi as SP, South West Khasi Hills; Geffry Waemhok Lyngdoh, ASP as AIG (L&O); Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, Deputy Commandant (DC), 4 MLP Bn as SP, SCRB; Shabbir Sayeed Dkhar, ASP, SF-10 as Administrative Officer, Directorate of Prosecution; VD Sangahiwot Rymbai, ASP, West Jaintia Hills as Commandant, 4th MLP Bn, Sohpian; and Dangsan Khyriem, ASP, CBPS, Eastern Range as SP, Eastern West Khasi Hills.
