Tura Bypass Project Land Acquisition: Compensation disbursement process begins

Ampati, June 10: The process of disbursing compensation to landowners affected by the Tura Bypass National Highway Project has officially commenced, following the finalization of compensation awards for acquired land.

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA), South West Garo Hills, announced that compensation payments will be made through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) after Aadhaar authentication. Affected landowners and other interested persons have been advised to ensure that their bank accounts are linked with Aadhaar to facilitate the smooth transfer of compensation funds.

According to an official notification, individuals who have not yet submitted their bank account details have been urged to do so at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Ampati without delay to avoid any disruption in the payment process.

The notification further stated that compensation amounts will be deemed to have been paid upon the expiry of 60 days from the date of publication of the notice, subject to successful Aadhaar authentication and bank account linkage.

Authorities have also directed all landowners and interested persons to surrender possession of their acquired land parcels within the stipulated 60-day period. The notice warned that, after the deadline, possession of the acquired land may be taken with the assistance of the Police Department in accordance with the provisions of the National Highways Act, 1956.

The Tura Bypass Project is considered a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at improving road connectivity, reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing transportation efficiency across the Garo Hills region.

For further information and assistance regarding compensation claims and documentation, affected persons have been advised to contact the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and CALA, South West Garo Hills, Ampati.
