Shillong, June 12: Water supply in Shillong and its adjoining areas will face disruption for eight hours on Monday on account of maintenance work in Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme.
Announcing the shutdown on June 15 from 10 am to 6 pm, Public Health Engineering department said pumping machinery will be replaced at Stage-I and Stage-II Pumping Stations during the period.
“During this period, there will be no water supply to Shillong City and its adjoining areas,” stated an official release.
However, the department has assured consumers that restoration work will be prioritised.
“Every effort shall be made to restore and resume the water supply to the public at the earliest possible time,” he said.
Expressing regret over the inconvenience caused, the department has advised residents to store sufficient water in advance to meet their needs during the shutdown.
