VPP unanimously nominates new CEM designate, dissolves EC
Shillong, Sep 25: Winston Tony Lyngdoh, the VPP MDC from Nongthymmai, has been nominated by his party as new chief executive member (CEM) designate of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), a day after resignation of Shemborlang Rynjah from the post.
All MDCs of the Voice of the People’s Party (VPP) took the decision unanimously at a meeting chaired by party chief Ardent Basaiawmoit on Thursday.
Announcing the name of the CEM designate following Rynjah’s resignation “due to health concerns”, Basaiawmoit also informed about induction of Jaiaw MDC Denzil Raynard Chen as the new Executive Member.
Explaining VPP’s decision not to appoint deputy CEMs, he said, “If the CEM decides to step down, appointment of deputy CEMs would not guarantee stability.”
“Therefore, the party has dissolved the existing Executive Committee and will form a new one,” he said.
On portfolio allotment, Basaiawmoit stated that the party will leave it to the wisdom of the new CEM.
Expressing satisfaction over performance of the EC, he said, “We had promised to bring transparency and efficiency to the district council, and we are pleased to see the positive changes.”
He also highlighted several achievements of the VPP-led EC which includes the introduction of a transparent job recruitment process and the streamlining of the trade and elaka departments.
“The new Executive Council will build on these efforts, ensuring that the KHADC continues to function effectively and efficiently,” Basaiawmoit said while adding that with a focus on clean governance and transparency, the VPP is committed to delivering on its promises to the people.
