Shillong, Sept 30: A medical check-up camp was held at Composite Hospital BSF Shillong on Tuesday where women of all ages enthusiastically participated.
The two-day camp which commenced today was organised as part of the aegis of “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” under the supervision of Dr. R. C. Bishariya, DIG (Medical)/Medical Superintendent, with the objective of promoting women’s health and conducting disease screening.
The camp placed special emphasis on cervical cancer screening through PAP smear tests, breast cancer screening, dental check-ups, and diagnosis of common health issues prevalent among women, including anemia, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. Necessary blood investigations were also carried out at the CH Laboratory.

Specialist care was provided by doctors from CH Shillong, including Dr. Tanjeet Kaur (Specialist Gynaecologist), Dr. Bhupinder Singh (Medical Specialist), Dr. Sunil Kumar (Specialist Pediatrics), and Dr. Mritunjay Kumar (Commandant Dental Surgeon).
Participants were also sensitized on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and hygiene, empowering them to lead healthier lives. The initiative received wide appreciation from BSF wives, serving female staff, and wards of BSF personnel of Frontier BSF Meghalaya, CH BSF Shillong, SHQ Shillong, and Battalions 02, 04, 172, and 193 BSF. The camp reflected the core message of the campaign—“The health of women is the foundation of a strong and prosperous family.”
