Shillong, June 14: A young couple, hailing from Balat and Ranikor in South West Khasi Hills, has allegedly committed suicide inside a roadside shed at Lumsohphoh along Shillong-Jowai Road.
According to police, one Pronome Hajong (22) from Balat and one Semanto Hajong (21) from Ranikor were found hanging in the shed at Lumsohphoh, Nongthymmai.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said police received information around 7 am on Sunday about the incident.
Both the bodies were later shifted to NEIGRIHMS for post-mortem examination.
Syiem said the inquest points toward suicide, but the final cause of death will be confirmed by the post-mortem report.
An unnatural death case has been registered at Laitumkhrah Police Station.
