Shillong, Jan 24: Education minister Rakkam A Sangma has asked the educational institutions to review their curriculums and make necessary changes to attract more students.
Addressing a programme on skill development here on Thursday, he urged the educational institutions to create an educational ecosystem, which can attract students from outside the state as well as prevent those from the state from migrating to other states to pursue higher education.
The programme in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector organised by Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, State Higher Education Council and the National Stock Exchange at Shillong College, Shillong concluded on Thursday.
It aimed at equipping faculty members of higher education institutions with necessary knowledge and tools to impart skills to students in the BFSI domain.
The 20-hour training programme of faculty of different colleges and universities comprised 42 faculty members.
Referring to students going outside the state to seek higher education despite the state having a conducive educational environment, the minister stressed on the importance of equipping faculty and students with skills required to excel in BFSI sector.
Education secretary A Ch Marak and Higher and Technical Education director HDB Sangma also attended the occasion.
